Theresa S. Cheplick, Hermitage; formerly of Transfer, passed away peacefully at 9 a.m. Thursday (8-19-10) in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a long courageous battle with multiple cancers. She was 78.
Mrs. Cheplick was born October 16, 1931 in Sharpsville a daughter of the late Jan and Janina Suchazewska Maciejewski.
A lifelong area resident, Theresa was a 1949 alumna of Hickory High School, Hermitage, where she was the salutatorian of her graduating class.
Earlier in her life, she was a secretary at the former Deneen's Dairy and the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Theresa later attended the former Mercer County Vo-Tech in Mercer where she completed the LPN program.
She was employed as a nurse at the former Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital, Farrell, for five years and retired in 1983.
An exceptional homemaker, Theresa enjoyed cooking and was well known for her delectable baking. She was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage and a former longtime member of St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, where she was a member of the Infant of Prague Society.
A devoted mother, she is survived by: three sons, Dennis J. Cheplick and his wife Angie, Hadley, PA; Dr. Gregory P. Cheplick and his wife Polly, Perrineville, NJ; and James M. Cheplick, New York City, NY; two grandchildren, Timothy and Heather Cheplick; two sisters, Vera Kosnac, Hermitage; and Ann Tomko and her husband Bob, Clark; and four brothers, Stanley Macey and his wife Barb, Sharpsville; Joseph Maciejewski and his wife Patricia, Warren, Ohio; John Mac and his wife Karen Brown, Transfer; and Henry Macey, also Transfer.
Besides her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Maciejewski; and a brother, Chester Maciejewski.
Calling hours will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday (8-22-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday (8-23-10) in St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, with Monsignor Edward J. Zeitler, senior associate of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, as celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. The St. Adalbert Prayer Group will recite the Rosary at 12:30 p.m. Monday (8-23-10) in the church prior to the Mass.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
