Obituary

Terrance "Terry" E. Myers, of Hermitage, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2019, in The Villas at St. Paul's Senior Living Community, West Salem Township, following a brief illness.  He was 75.

Mr. Myers was born September 16, 1943, in DuBois, PA, a son of the late Arthur and Helen (Steponick) Myers.  He was a 1961 graduate of DuBois Area High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 6, 1961.  Terry served aboard the USS Enterprise, which was the first nuclear attack carrier and part of Task Force One with two other carriers, and cruised "around the world."  He was a proud veteran and a member of the American Legion, Post # 299, Sharon.

Terry worked in the grocery business for 40 years.  He began his career at Riverside Market in DuBois, which later became Bi-Lo, and retired in 2004 as the store manager from Bi-Lo in Greenville.  Following his retirement, he was employed by the Mercer County Transit Authority as a bus driver for eight years.  Terry was an avid boater and spent many memorable days on the water with his wife and family.  They docked their boat at the Shenango Reservoir from 1976 to 1991 before purchasing a larger boat and spending their days boating on Lake Erie.  They also enjoyed boating in Florida and the southern portion of Lake Huron.

Terry was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, the former Judy Anderson, whom he married August 13, 1966; a son, Eric Myers and his wife Lisa, of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Wendy Myers, of Erie; four grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Gillian and Luke; a brother, Lee Myers and his wife Nancy, of DuBois; two sisters, Marla Overdorf and her husband Ed, also of DuBois; and Debi Myers Bleam; and a sister-in-law, Mary Myers, of Phoenix, AZ.

Besides his parents, Terry was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Myers.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed toward St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
