Stephen G. Hudak, 88, of Neshannock Township passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Rhodes Estates.
He was born in New Castle on Dec. 16, 1927, one of three children to the late John and Mary Komar Hudak.
Stephen married the love of his life, the former Alice J. Zuk, on Aug. 8, 1953, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2001.
During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines.
Upon his return home, Stephen started Hudak Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and later worked for Babcock & Wilcox in Beaver Falls until his retirement.
He had a talent for repairing things and worked endlessly helping others. He often could be found tinkering in his garage, working on one of his many projects.
Stephen is survived by his daughter, Christine Swihart of New Castle; his son, Jeffrey Hudak and his wife, Brenda, of Pittsburgh; his granddaughter, Kimberly Saculla and her husband, Mark, of Youngstown; and a sister, Mary Lavella and her husband Jim, of New Castle.
In addition to his wife and parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Hruska; and his brother, John Hudak.
Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will be conducting military rites at the conclusion of calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, St. Mary Church, with the Rev. Frank Almade officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
