Stephen E. Dever, Sr., 63, of 33 Upper Idlewild Drive died Saturday morning at Sharon Regional Hospital.
He was born in Akron, Ohio on December 3, 1947 to the late Kenny I. Dever and Helen L. James Dever.
Steve entered the U.S. Navy on June 24, 1965 and was honorably discharged on January 6, 1969. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal and the Purple Heart with 3 Stars.
He married the former Antoinette Carmella Libertine on Sept. 5, 1970 and she preceded him in death in 2001.
Steve retired from ComDoc in Akron, Ohio where he was a warehouse manager. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 267 in Bessemer.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracie L. Kline of Massillon, Ohio and Shellie A. Mollohan of Akron. One son, Stephen E. Dever Jr. of Akron, OH. Two Brothers, Kenny I. Dever, Jr. of Dayton, OH and Clyde 'Skip' West Dever of Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by his fiancé Emily Jane Allen of New Castle, three stepchildren and nine grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Allen Dever.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at the Mahoning Twp. Veterans Memorial at 11:00 AM. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will then conduct a military rite.
