Stephany 'Stella' Mae Brenick, formerly of Curtis St., Sharon, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Thursday (9-24-09) in the Bentley House, Hermitage, where she was a resident for the past three years. She was 93.
Mrs. Brenick was born September 21, 1916 in Sharon, PA, daughter of Stephen and Mary (Fijalka) Wolanin.
Her husband, Stanley J. Brenick, whom she married June 29, 1946, passed away March 10, 1995. Stella leaves behind two daughters, Mrs. Camille Brubaker and husband David, Pickerington, OH; and Mrs. Annette Bart and husband John, Lancaster, PA; a son, Stanley J. Brenick, Jr. and wife, Roberta, Amanda, OH; a sister, Bonnie Ataman, Masury, OH; a brother, Alexander Wolanin, Brookfield, OH; five grandchildren, Kirsten Cameron, Marty Brenick, Stacy Brubaker, Nathan Brubaker, and Jason Bart; and three great-grandchildren, Kamden Musser, Mackenzie Cameron and Myla Brenick.
Besides her parents and husband, Stella was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Walter, Henry and Emil Wolanin; and three sisters, Sophie and Anne Wolanin; and Isabelle Emanuel.
Following her graduation from Sharon High School, Mrs. Brenick studied art at New York University. Upon completion of her studies, She was employed for several years as a medical illustrator by a prominent New York physician and research scientist. With the outbreak of World War II, Stella gave up her career and returned home to pursue a career as secretary in the Personnel Office of the former National Malleable & Steel Castings Co., Farrell. She was co-editor and illustrator of the plant newsletter, 'The Coupler'.
Mrs. Brenick's artistic endeavors continued as a member of St. Adalbert's Church. Her wall hangings and banners adorned the sanctuary throughout the years, in addition to artwork used for church bulletins and newspaper advertising. Stella was also a member of the St. Adalbert's Choir.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday (9-28-09) in St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Daniel Kresinski, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
