Stanley Izenas, Sr., 335 Cedar Ave., Sharon, passed away at 4;45 p.m. Tuesday (5-19-09) in the intensive care unit of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 88.
Mr. Izenas was born July 5, 1920 in Sharon a son of the late Paul and Mary Kapiec Izenas.
He was a lifelong Sharon resident and attended Sharon High School where he was a standout running back for the football team.
Mr. Izenas retired in 1982 as a toll and die maker from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he was employed for 41 years.
He was a charter member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon, and a member of the former Polish Home in Farrell.
His wife, the former Marie Chrobak, whom he married September 28, 1941, passed away January 21, 1993. Surviving are: three daughters, Kathleen Takacs and her husband James, Mercer; Arlene Billak and her husband Richard, Austintown, Ohio; and Irene Mistretta and her husband James, Sharpsville; two sons, Robert Izenas and his wife Bernadette, Sharon; and Paul Izenas and his wife Jill, Cranberry Twp. (Butler County); two sisters, Stella Truchan and her husband Arthur, Hermitage; and Frances Cowger, Liberty Twp. (Trumbull County, Ohio); a brother, Vincent Sabulsky and his wife Delores, Pulaski; nine grandchildren, Michael and Patrick Izenas; Colleen Hartsock; Tammy Cress; Eric Izenas; Damian Billak; Justin Mistretta; and Tyler and Chad Izenas; ten great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Izenas, Greenville.
Besides his parents and wife, Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Izenas, Jr.; his step-father, Stanley Sabulsky; two sisters, Violet Busch and Sallie Habinak; and three brothers, Theodore, Walter and Benjamin Sabulsky.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 3168 E. State St., Hermitage, PA 16148; or to the American Cancer Society, 3208 Wilmington Rd., New Castle, PA 16105.

Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday (5-22-09) in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon.
Interment: St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hermitage.
