Simon "Cy" Revale of Sharon passed away peacefully at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness. He was 89.
Mr. Revale was born December 24, 1926, in Sharon, a son of Louis and Rose Frank Revale. He was a lifelong area resident attended Sharon schools.
Simon entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theatre, specifically in both Nagasaki and Hiroshima after the bombing of Japan.
Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and was employed by the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp until the plant's closing. He then continued working for Westinghouse as a regional consultant, traveling to various plants to train new employees.
In addition, Cy managed the Sharon Recreation Bowling Alley, and later the Hickory Recreation Bowling Alley.
Mr. Revale was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.
He was a member of the Slovenian Workingmen's and Educational Club, Sharon and the Italian Home Club, Farrell.
An avid bowler, Simon recorded two sanctioned 300 games while bowling in American Bowling Congress competitions. He also enjoyed hunting.
Cy was a true patriarch to his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, particularly attending all of their sporting events.
Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, the former Annette "Toni" Necaster, whom he married, April 22, 1950; a daughter, Cheryl Revale, Cleveland, OH; two sons, Lennie (Kim) Revale and Gary (Stephanie) Revale, all of Sharon; three sisters, Elizabeth Garrich, Summers, N.Y.; Angeline Megyesi, Sharon; and Marcia (Thomas) Gibbons, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Marcie (Michael) Yordy, Lisa Revale, Zach (Kelsie) Revale, Gary S. Revale and Diana Revale, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Cy was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Heath and Rose Marie Swartz; and two brothers, Louis Revale Jr. and Leonard Revale.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph's Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday (9-3-2016) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service is 12:30 p.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, officiating.
