Shirley A. Walsh, Judy Lynn Drive, Farrell, passed away at 10:39 a.m. on Wednesday (9-8-10) in Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Pittsburgh following an extended illness with Leukemia. She was 72.
A lifelong resident of Farrell, she was born in Sharon on April 3, 1938 the daughter of William and Perry Bertelli Rongo.
She graduated from Farrell High School.
Following high school, she enrolled at Youngstown State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and her teacher's certification. She retired from the Farrell School District on June 7th, 1993 after 33 years of teaching in the elementary school. She was a member of the PSEA (Pennsylvania State Education Association), PASR (Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees), NEA (National Education Association).
Shirley loved boating with the love of her life Fred Leonetti aboard their 37 ½ foot Sea Ray Sundancer in Ashtabula, Ohio. She also enjoyed reading and playing cards with her friends and her retired teacher card club. She also belonged to the Farrell Women's Service Club.
She is survived by Fred Leonetti with whom she made her home for the past 35 years, her two aunts, Anita Manilla, Farrell, and Betty Rongo, Hermitage, her uncle Phil Bertelli, Sharon, and many cousins who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
