Obituary

Shirley A. Gresh, Trace Street, Hermitage, and formally of Pittsburgh, passed away unexpectedly Friday , Christmas morning (12-25-15) at her residence. She was 82.

She was born at home November 13, 1933 in Patton, Pennsylvania (Cambria County). She was the daughter of Geraldine Thomas.

She was raised in Patton and graduated from Patton High School.

She was employed at Mellon Bank in downtown Pittsburgh where she began in the mail room and matriculated to an administrative position in human resources, she retired after 32 years of service. She was a housekeeper for the parish priest at Notre Dame, and formerly at St. John XXIII Home, both in Hermitage

Shirley was an active member and Eucharistic minister at Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

Her husband Richard "Dick" W. Gresh who she married August 29, 1992 passed away June 27, 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Van Verth and her husband Ben, Sharon,  a daughter-in-law Carol Gresh, Pittsburgh,  three sons Gary Gresh and his wife Debbie Cresent, Pa., Henry Gresh and his wife Marci, Also of Cresent, and Charles Gresh and his wife Erin,  Acworth, GA, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, three sisters, Kathy Hoener (Jim), Gibsonia, Linda Yarko (Bob) Nokesville, Virginia, and Christine Thomas, Portage, PA, two brothers, Dan (Trudy) Thomas, and Paul (Jeanie) both of Patton. Also surviving are her two friends who she loved like sisters, Bea Schlarp, and Martha "Martie" Miller. She was the best grandma to Liza Jane her grand puppy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Geraldine Thomas, an infant great-grandson Nicholas Martin, and a son Richard David  "Dickey" Gresh

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday ( 12-29-15 ) in the Church of Notre Dame 2325 Highland Rd. Hermitage.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday ( 12-30-15 ) in the Church with the parish priest as celebrants.

Interment: Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh.
