Shirley M. Davis of 523 Fruit Ave. Farrell, PA, departed this life on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 8:33 a.m. in UPMC Horizon Hospital with her family by her side. She was 59.

Mrs. Davis was born in La Crosse, VA on May 6, 1951, a daughter of Jessie James and Ora C. Meredith Thomas.

Following high school Shirley attended Springfield Technical Community College in Massachusetts.

Mrs. Davis worked as an assistant for a center that helped with the mentally challenged in Massachusetts.

Shirley loved to travel, shopping, bingo and going to casinos. Most importantly she loved enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by, her husband, Nelson Davis, whom she married December 7, 1968; her mother, Ora and her companion Mr. Claire James Link of Farrell, PA; a daughter, Carla Davis Gladden and her husband Cedric of Philadelphia, PA; a son, Tionte Davis of Philadelphia, PA; 3 sisters, Theresa Ann Thomas and her husband Butch Sherman, Rose Marie Phillips and her husband Talmage, and Tonja Lynn Thomas; 5 brothers, David Meredith, Sir J. Thomas and his wife Deborah, Gary James Thomas and his wife Evelyn, Richard Lewis Thomas, and Michael Dwayne Thomas; 6 grandchildren, Michael Branch Jr., Aaron Davis, Cedric Gladden, Talia Gladden, and Jaron Felder, Tionte Davis Jr.; 2 great grandchildren; Shirley also leaves behind her companion Clarence Austin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, Shirley was preceded in death by a niece, Tyrentni.

Calling Hours will be one hour prior to the service on Monday, March 28, 2011 in Bethlehem Baptist Church, Sharon.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Sharon with Rev. Leon Avery.
