Scott W Lewis, of Sharpsville PA, died as a result of heart failure on Friday morning, February 10, 2012. Scott had diabetes and had suffered a few illnesses in recent years.
He was born in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania on December 14, 1929, the son of Scott W. Lewis, Sr. and Laura Herriott Lewis.
He married the love of his life, Beverly J. Corll, August 6, 1966 at the Methodist Church in Hubbard Ohio.
Scott started his education in a one-room school of eight grades. After graduating salutatorian from Sharpsville High School, he went on to graduate from Allegheny College in 1952. Ever the learner and teacher, Scott then obtained a Master of Education degree at Westminster College, and continued his studies at the Youngstown University School of Law, and at Thiel College.
While working the farm and constructing various buildings morning and evening, Scott began a long teaching career at Sharpsville School, where history was his specialty ? he was fascinated by it. He assisted as a football coach, and developed lifelong friendships with students (even those who tempted the Board of Education!), faculty, administrators, parents and the community. In 1992, after many years of service, Scott retired as principal of Sharpsville High School. Among Scott's many endearing personality characteristics was his quick wit and extraordinary sense of humor. He was a master of the original comeback. Throughout his life, Scott loved farming on his family homestead farm in South Pymatuning Township, where in their later years he and Bev lived. In the early years, Scott and Bev lived many happy years together in their Sharpsville home.
Scott and his beloved wife Beverly loved to travel, a love that was born out of a passion for ancient history. Over the years they circled the globe many times, and toured more than one hundred countries - many of them more than once. Having no children, they were totally devoted to one another throughout their lives ? traveling, working, playing together. Scott and Bev also led a stock club, whose members were mainly educators, and Scott helped many people learn about investing. Scott and Bev worked on farms, on rooftops, in basements, with cattle and cats? always together. Infinitely inseparable, where one was seen the other was also. Now they are together again.
Scott was predeceased by his parents, an infant sister (Mary Lewis), and his dear wife Beverly Jean, who passed away on April 30, 2011.
He is survived by two sisters, Alta Rademacher and Shirley Minner; two brothers, James Lewis (Mary Lou Hazen Lewis) and Dr Gerald Lewis (Theresa Flynn Lewis); and several nieces and nephews.
