Sarah Jane Rayner, 68 of Edinburg, Pa. passed away unexpectedly from a brief illness on August 3, 2024, at her home.

Sarah was born December 19, 1955, in New Castle, to Jack and Leila (Rodgers) Mitchell.

She married Bruce Rayner, Sr. on March 4, 1981, and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2021.

A lifelong farmer, Sarah worked for over 40 years to build her dairy and beef farm in Pulaski Twp. She also worked in both the produce and seafood dept. at Walmart in New Castle for over 17 years.

Sarah loved the outdoors and was constantly working on various projects around the farm.

Her children and grandchildren were her world. Sarah never missed an opportunity to tell them how special they were to her and how much she loved them.

She will be forever missed by her daughter, Jamie (John) Gabriel; and two sons, Bruce Rayner, Jr. and Jack Rayner; and her three grandchildren, Alexandra, Trentin, and Maximus Gabriel, all of Edinburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Mitchell; and a sister, Audrey Brandon.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (8-8-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (8-9-24) in the funeral home, with Rev. Matthew Bupp, officiating.

Interment will follow in Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington.
