Obituary

Sara Belle 'Sally' McCullough, 1006 N. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, passed away at 2:05 am, Sunday (9/12/2010) at her residence following an extended illness. She was 82.

Sally was born December 1, 1927 in Sharon the daughter of Emerson Penn and Sara Belle Rhodes McCullough.

She was a 1945 graduate of Hickory High School and received a B.S. in Nursing from the former Youngstown College, now Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio.

In 1949 she began her nursing career as a registered nurse at Northside Hospital, Youngstown where she worked for over 25 years. She was also an instructor at the Choffin School of Practical Nursing, Youngstown for 13 years and at the former Mercer County Vocational Technical School, Coolspring Twp. for 13 years. She retired in 1987.

She was a member of the New Virginia United Methodist Church, Hermitage.

Sally was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Farrell Chapter 156. She had a passion for reading and liked keeping abreast of current affairs and reading books on American history. She also enjoyed flower gardening. A loving aunt, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her nieces and nephews for whom she cared for immensely.

She is survived by three sisters, Winifred M. Johnson, Columbus, OH, Wilma Jean Cubbison and her husband Robert, North Royalton, OH and Jessie M. Farr, New Brunswick, OH; five brothers, Melvin R. McCullough and his wife Nancy, Sharpsville, Duane E. McCullough and his wife Frances, Hermitage, Donald R. McCullough and his wife Scherry, Paducah, KY, twin brothers, Roger N. McCullough and his wife Jean, Vienna, OH and Roland L. McCullough and his wife Marge, Hermitage, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Wendell McCullough.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the New Virginia United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, PA 16148
