Sandra K. Marwick

Sandra K. Marwick, 68, of Sandy Lake, PA, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Sandy was born September 5, 1957, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Charles V. and Helen J. (Hurst) Marwick. A 1975 graduate of Tower High School, Warren, MI, she completed her bachelor’s degree in English Writing at Slippery Rock University. Sandy later completed her master’s in Education at Edinboro University.

For the last three years, she has taught high school English for the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District at the Western Secure Treatment Unit, Emlenton, PA. Sandy previously served as the Director of Adult Literacy at the Mercer County Education Center for Adults, and from 2004 to 2012, worked as a focus editor at the Butler Eagle.

Upon completing high school, Sandy’s adventurous spirit took her to Alaska where she lived for over two decades. This sparked her love of traveling, whether backpacking through western Europe or cycling three hundred miles from Pittsburgh to Washington D. C.

Sandy had a knack for creating, whether through homemade Halloween costumes for her children or baking a loaf of bread. She admired the artistic pursuits of others in the theater and in a good book, but most of all in an expertly crafted cup of coffee (including the ones she brewed for herself).

Above all else, Sandy was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to single-handedly raising her two daughters and supporting them in their many endeavors.

Sandy is survived by her two beloved daughters, Penny Watson (Joseph), San Marcos, CA, Hannah Bradley (Michael Dugan), San Antonio, TX; two grandsons, Elias Pletnikoff and Jonah Watson; three sisters, Rene Stoner, Robin Brewer, and Sherry Derosia (Bob); and a brother, Chuck Marwick, all of Michigan.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held privately amongst family and loved ones.
