Sandra Lee (Spangler) Jones, 4480 Clifford Dr.; formerly of S. Neshannock Rd., both Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly at 2:34 a.m. Sunday (5-22-11) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after an apparent heart attack at home. She was 68.
Mrs. Jones was born October 19, 1942 in Hickory Township the youngest of 14 children to Howard Spangler, Sr. and Pearl Campman Spangler.
She was a lifelong resident of what is now Hermitage and a 1961 graduate of Hickory High School.
Sandra retired in 2006 from the Hermitage School District where she was employed as a custodian for more than seventeen years.
Her husband, George B. Jones, Sr. whom she married August 18, 1967, passed away July 9, 1999.
Surviving are: a daughter, Lisa M. Hodgson and her husband Todd, Burghill, Ohio; four sons, George B. Jones, Jr. and his wife Cindy, S. Pymatuning Township; Richard A. McCreary and family, Hermitage; Kenneth S. McCreary and family, Mercer; and John K. McCreary, San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren whom she adored and loved to spend time with, Benjamin Hodgson and Adam Jones; two brothers, Norman Spangler, Sr. and Robert Spangler, both Hermitage; three sisters, Charlotte Lowery, Deland, FL; Carol Koch, Hermitage; and Betsy Marlowe, Charleston, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Joe Grassley, S. Pymatuning Township.
Throughout the years, Sandra enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking wonderful meals. Her fondest memories were when she and her husband George had family and friends to their home for the holidays and cookouts. She particularly enjoyed the times her brother Norm entertained by playing the guitar and singing. Sandra was a social member at the Hickory VFW, Post 6166, Hermitage.
Besides her husband, Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Howard Spangler, Jr., John Spangler and James Spangler; five sisters, Evelyn Duncan, Edythe Barlowe, Sara Arthur, Liz Boles and Donna (Black) Spangler.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army Corps, 660 Fisher Hill St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. today (5-24-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (5-25-11) in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Benigas, pastor of the Orangeville (Ohio) United Methodist Church, officiating.
