Obituary

Samuel "Sam" Hassel, 28, of Hermitage passed away Monday morning, August 13, 2018, in his home.

Sam was born May 14, 1990, in Sharon, a son of Randy and Susan (Fall) Hassel. He was a 2008 graduate of Hickory High School and attended Penn State Behrend, Erie, PA and later at the Shenango Campus. In May 2018 he completed his associate's degree in machinist technology from New Castle School of Trades.

Sam was employed as a machinist at Liberty Steel Industries, Inc., Warren, Ohio.  A talented woodworking hobbyist, he enjoyed creating several mailboxes and bird feeders for friends and relatives. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July, and he looked forward to putting on a firework display for his friends and neighbors. Sam also enjoyed gaming, fishing, disc golf and was a man who admittingly loved cats.

He is survived by his mother, Susan Farrand and her husband David; his father, Randy Hassel, all of Hermitage; a sister, Emily Barber and her husband Philip, Atlanta; two step-sisters, Christina Farrand, Oakwood, OH; and Erica Farrand, Sharon; and a step-brother, D.J. Farrand and his wife Melisa, Chester, SC.

Sam was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Mary Fall; and his paternal grandmother, Margaret Hassel.
