Obituary

Sally Ann (Glaser) Dufford, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 2018, in her residence.  She was 85.

Mrs. Dufford was born July 14, 1933, in her grandmother's home in West Middlesex, the second of eight children to the late Carl James and Gladys (Metz) Glaser.  She was a 1951 graduate of Hickory High School and, one week later, married Robert C. Dufford on May 31, 1951.  He passed away December 16, 2009.

Sally was a stay at home wife and mother.  In later years she accompanied her husband, when he worked as a consultant, to various places including Puerto Rico.  They also visited the fifty states and most of Canada.  In earlier years they sailed Lake Erie and the Chesapeake Bay on their 30 foot sloop, Salacia II.  Sally enjoyed genealogy and was co-compiler of the Mercer County Cemetery Inscriptions.  She was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society and a life member of the Mercer County Historical Society.  Sally was an avid reader of history and the classics and a follower of all sports.  Watching and feeding the wild birds gave her many hours of pleasure.

Surviving are: four children, Connie Dufford and her husband Michael Versaci, of Woodstock, GA; Richard Dufford and his wife Linda, of Sharpsville; Stanley Dufford and his wife Rose, of Hermitage; and Gary Dufford and his companion Donna Brodish, of Sharpsville; her beloved grandchildren, Twila Kolberg and her husband Korey, of Marietta, GA; Emma Handziuk and her husband Bradley, of Colorado; George McConnell, III, of Jasper, GA; Morgan Dufford and Garrett Dufford, both of Michigan; and Lindsey Dufford, of Pittsburgh, PA; 4 great grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren, including Nick Vaughn and David Peters.  She also leaves a sister, Carol Donaldson and her husband John, of West Middlesex, PA; four brothers, Ronald Glaser, of Brookfield, OH; Dale Glaser, of Sharon, PA; William Glaser and his wife Trudy, of Harrisburg, PA; and Robert Glaser and his wife Faith, of Indian Trail, NC; a sister-in-law, Palma Glaser, of Hermitage, PA; a brother-in-law, Francis Graham, of Jefferson Township, PA; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Sally was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Constance Ann Dufford; two brothers, Richard Glaser and James Glaser; two sisters-in-law, Marcia Glaser and Carol Graham; and a niece, Barbara Parker.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mercer County Historical Society, 119 S. Pitt St., Mercer, PA 16137; or to the Community Library of the Shenango Valley, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
