Ruth L Weyant, St. Paul Homes, Greenville, formerly of Hermitage, passed away peacefully of natural causes at
3:14 a.m.
Sunday
(2-21-16) in the Coronary Care Unit at UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville. She was 89.
Ruth was born April 13, 1926 in Garrett, Pennsylvania, a borough in Somerset County. She was the daughter of Samuel J and Caroline Haaga Burkholder.
She graduated from the Meyersdale High School in 1944.
In her early years she worked for the Meyersdale Shirt Factory, and more recently she worked for the Hermitage School District as a cafeteria worker.
She was an acitive member Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Hermitage , where she was a member of their Dorcas Society and helped with the monthly newsletter.
In her free time she enjoyed gardening and reading.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be sadly missed.
Her husband Elwood D. "Woody" Weyant whom she married on January 1, 1948, passed away on July 24, 2002.
She leaves her two daughters, Joy L. Deem and her husband Jay, Berlin, Ruthann D. Bailey, Greenville, two sons, Samuel E. Weyant, Farrell, and Timothy A. Weyant and his wife Cheryl, Mercer, five grandchildren, Laura Maust, Jonathan Bailey, Tara Weyant, Samantha Weyant, and Heidi Weyant. her great grandchildren, Nicholas Rainey, Trenton Thompson, Landon and Silas Horn, MaKenzie Maust, Payten Weyant Mills, Ariaunna Weyant Mills, Lily and Aiden Bailey.
Two step grandchildren, Michelle Blubaugh and Teresa Black, and three step great grandchildren Mitchell and Miranda Black, and Bethany Blubaugh.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and and two sisters, Helen Latzsch, and Minnie Kappe.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory to please consider her church Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 3325 Morefield Road, Hermitage, 16148.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours held.
Services:
A memorial service will be held at
11:00 a.m.
Saturday

) in Holy Trinity Church with Rev. Dr. Gary Nelson, pastor officiating. Her family will also celebrate her life in Somerset County with a memorial service later this year.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.
