Ruth I. Thompson

Ruth I. Thompson, 93, of Sharpsville, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in her home.

Mrs. Thompson was born on September 30, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late James H. and Ruth L. (Burke) Briggs. She was a 1951 graduate of Saegertown High School.

A dedicated homemaker, Ruth was an active member of South Pymatuning Community Church. She had a passion for children and volunteered three days a week at the church’s preschool program.

Her husband, Joseph B. Thompson, whom she married on November 8, 1952, passed away on January 8, 2008.

She is survived by a daughter, Loretta Ague and her husband, James, of Sharpsville; a son, Joseph S. Thompson, of Salisbury, NC; five grandchildren, Joshua Ague, Jared Ague (Martha), Joseph Hunter Thompson (Tammy), Kelley Carico (Noah) and Kathleen Thompson; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ellen L. Peterson, of Iowa.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Keith Thompson; a sister, Carol; and two brothers, James and John Briggs.
