Obituary

Ruth A. Carter Pulliam, of Farrell, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2024. She was 91.

Mrs. Pulliam was born on September 7, 1932, in Franklin, PA, a daughter of Joe and Myrtle Peterson Carter. Following her parents' untimely death, while Ruth was still young, she and her younger sister were raised by her older sister, Doris Torrence and her husband, Robert, in Greenville, PA.

Ruth was a 1950 graduate of Greenville High School where she sang in the school choir. Her passion and talent for singing remained with her and she sang for many groups and organizations throughout her life.

In 1951, she married her first husband, John E. Ellebie, and that union brought to life four children. Ruth married again in 1972 to Joe C. Pulliam and from that marriage was born a son, and Joseph preceded her in death January 4, 2018.

Ruth was a long-time member of Cedar Ave. Church of God, Sharon, and previously a member of First Baptist Church, Farrell. She served as Past Worthy Matron of Miriam Chapter #47 Order of the Eastern Stars, Farrell, PA. She loved spending time with her family, serving at her church, and was steadfast in her God.

Ruth Pulliam will be remembered with constant love and affection by her family, friends, and loved ones.

She is survived by three sons, John S. (Georgia R.) Ellebie, of Charlotte, NC, Richard G. "Ricky" (Sheila) Ellebie, of Triangle, VA, Ronald J. (Loren) Pulliam, of Pittsburgh, PA; two daughters, Yolanda (Eric) Harris and Beverly Sapp, all of Sharon; nine grandchildren, Sohnnette Ellebie, Gerald Culp, Lindsay Ellebie, Richard (Nick) Ellebie, Sheri Ellebie, Morgan Roseboro, Quinton Smith, Sharon Smith and Amber Billie; seven great-grandchildren, Malique Harrison, Avon Crawford, Kailah Ellebie, Rakiyah Truxon, Sofia Smith, Khiera Hall, and Quinton Samir Smith; many beloved step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Pulliam; eight sisters, Vera E. Burrell, Doris E. Torrence, Geraldine Whiteside, Myrtle Basham, Marjorie Basham, Jean Martin, infant Josephine Carter, Shirley A. Huntley; a brother, Lawrence Jackson; three half-brothers; and a granddaughter, Sohnnette R. Harris.

Mother Ruth leaves a legacy of love and respect for all.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday (3-2-24) in Cedar Ave. Church of God, 1045 Cedar Ave., Sharon. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (3-1-24) at 300 Russell Street, Sharon, PA.

A Home Going Celebration will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the church, with Rev. Charles Johnson, Sr. Pastor, officiant and eulogist.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
