IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth N.
Lakatos
March 5, 1930 – September 16, 2024
Ruth N. Lakatos, 94, of Canfield, OH, formerly of Brookfield, OH, passed away Monday evening, September 16, 2024, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, OH.
Mrs. Lakatos was born on March 5, 1930, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Errichetto) Magestro. She was a 1949 graduate of Brookfield High School.
She began her career as a sales associate at the former Speizers Store and later worked in the same capacity at the former Whitmer Smiths, both in downtown Sharon. Ruth ultimately retired from Keystone Blind Association, where she worked on microfilming.
Her husband, Edward Lakatos, whom she married on June 27, 1959, passed away in 1989.
A devout Catholic, Ruth was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church. Upon its closure, she joined St. Joseph Church, both in Sharon. She was also a member of the Lady Knights of Columbus. When her daughter attended the former Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School, she was a "Room Mother" and taught a mini course in cooking and baking.
She had a longtime companion, John Thomas Brincko, who passed away on August 9, 2014. Together, they spent over 20 years, "snowbirding" in Mesa, AZ.
Ruth also enjoyed going to the casino and working on puzzles and word searches.
She is survived by a daughter, Tracy Lakatos, with whom she resided; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by three sisters, Mamie Magestro, Josephine Hinkle and Rosemarie Mihalcin-Lattyak; two brothers, Anthony and Andrew Magestro; and her longtime companion, John Thomas Brincko.
Ruth's daughter would like to thank her dear friends and neighbors for checking on her and helping when needed.
