Ruth Marie Gale of Sharon passed away peacefully in her sleep at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 87. Mrs. Gale was born April 22, 1927, in Michigan City, Ind., a daughter of Harry and Elsie Pries Seedorf, both of whom passed away at age 56. She was a 1945 graduate of Elston High School, Michigan City. Throughout her life, she worked as a sales associate at various retail stores including the Hallmark Store, the former Kaufmann's, Strauss and the W.T. Grant Co., all in Hermitage. A central tenet in Ruth's life was her faith in God, to whom she provided service through active membership at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon, and for the most recent 10 years, at Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage. She also lived her faith through volunteer work at various organizations, including Keystone Blind Association, UPMC Horizon in Farrell, and by offering to care for those in need in various capacities. Throughout Ruth's life, she invited nursing and other students to live in her home while attending school. Ruth's was a gentle and humble soul, who always found a friend wherever she went; much of her life's focus was on serving others. Interests of Ruth's included needlework, sewing, gardening, reading and making a warm and welcoming home. She is survived by a son, Terry L. Gale and his wife Amy, Farrell. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Seedorf; and her longtime companion, Daniel Donovan of Sharon, who passed in 1998. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her memory to Keystone Blind Association, 1230 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
