Russell E. Powell, Masury, passed away peacefully at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, in his residence following an extended illness. He was 73. Russell was born June 23, 1941, in Sharon, one of three children born to William and Myrtle Davis Powell. A lifelong area resident, he attended Hermitage schools. A welder by trade, Russell worked at both the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. and Trinity Industries Inc., Greenville. He enjoyed tinkering with his automobiles and was a car enthusiast. His wife, the former Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Rodgers, whom he married Sept. 26, 1964, survives at the residence. He leaves a daughter, Susan M. Powell Hahne and her husband Dale, Masury; and a son, Michael W. Powell and his wife Lisa M., Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christopher W. Hahne and Jacob M. Powell; and two step-grandchildren, Abigail and Courtney Dommer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Virginia Barreca; a brother, Phil Powell; and his mother- and father-in-law, Helen G. and Eugene B. Rodgers.
