Rudolph "Rudy" Tomko, 90, of Hermitage, passed away early Monday afternoon, December 9, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, dedication, and service.

Rudy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on June 20, 1934, in Sharon, PA, to Michael and Susan (Ocenas) Tomko.

Rudy was a proud 1952 graduate of Sharon High School. Following his education, he served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, completing a 16-month tour of duty in South Korea from 1956 to 1957.

Rudy's professional career began in 1952 at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, where he worked as a draftsman. Over the next decade, he advanced to the role of Engineering Programmer, dedicating 32 years to the company before retiring in 1984. His career continued with ABB in Pittsburgh, PA, and Muncie, IN, where he worked as an Engineering Programmer from 1985 to 1994. From 1995 to 2008, Rudy served as a Systems Analyst at Ontario Systems in Muncie before retiring and returning to Pennsylvania in 2009.

A devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sharon, Rudy served faithfully on the church council as Financial Secretary. His faith and commitment to his church community were a cornerstone of his life.

Rudy was an avid sportsman who loved softball, golf, Ohio State Football, and bowling. He played on the Ideal Billiards 1995 State Fast Pitch Champion softball team and was a key player in several leagues, including the church league, Sons of Italy, and the Westinghouse Interdepartmental League. Rudy also coached and managed Little League and Senior Division baseball teams in Hermitage for five years. A passionate golfer, he enjoyed competing in the Westinghouse Engineering Golf League for 30 years and also participated in the company's bowling league.

Rudy is survived by his devoted wife, Jean A. (Hlinsky) Tomko, whom he married on August 20, 1966; his son, Scott Tomko and daughter-in-law, Dian, of Draper, UT; his cherished twin granddaughters, Sydney and Alexa; and his sister, Dorothy Dutka, of Westlake, OH.
