Roy McBriar, Jr. of 1502 Idaho St. Extension, Hermitage, PA. passed away at 2:33 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Sharon Regional Health System. He was 85.
Mr. McBriar was born in Sharon, PA on September 15, 1923, a son of Albert R. Sr. and Alice Griffith McBriar.
He attended Sharon High School.
Roy retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad, where he worked on the loading docks. After retiring he delivered papers for the Sharon Herald Newspaper for 20 years.
Mr. McBriar enjoyed reading western books. He enjoyed watching all sports, but especially enjoyed being involved with his sons' at Hermitage Little League Baseball.
His wife, Pauline (Vernille) McBriar, whom he married May 4, 1960, passed away on April 9, 1993.
Survivors include: 4 sons, Paul and his wife Kimberly of Sharpsville, PA, Kenneth and his wife Lori of Hubbard, OH, Kevin of Hermitage, PA, and Michael and his wife Jenna McBriar of Vienna, OH; a daughter, Debbie Eckenrod; a sister, Jane Ann Plaster of Canton, OH; a mother-in-law, Johanna Vernille of Hermitage, PA; 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Howard McBriar; a sister, Mary Steen.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Fr. Donald E. Berdis.
Internment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery.
