Obituary

Funeral services will be held on Saturday for Ross E. Thompson Sr., Charlotte Dr., Hermitage, who passed away peacefully of natural causes at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday (2-15-11) in Nugent's Convalescent Home, Hemitage. He was 88.

He was born on April 3, 1922 in New Brighton, Pa., the son of William A. and Rosabelle Morrison Thompson.

He retired in 1987 as a truck driver with 45 years of service from the former Golden Dawn Foods.

Mr. Thompson was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon.

A veteran, he was honorably discharged in 1942 from the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Thompson was a 62 year member of the American Legion Post 19 New Brighton, Pa; a 52 year member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Freedom Pa.

Mr. Thompson was a long time member of the Western Pennsylvania Teamsters Union # 261, New Castle.

Ross was active with the Cub Scouts of America and was a Cub Scout Master for twenty years. He also enjoyed bowling in his younger years with the Golden Dawn Bowling league.

His wife the former Mildred M. Musulin whom he married on August 8, 1953, passed away on February 7, 2003.

He leaves his two daughters, Carol Ann Rebich, Beaver Falls, and Mrs. Lori Lynne Mancino and her husband David, Hermitage, a son Ross E. Thompson Jr., Sharpsville, his grandson Sammy Mancino a sister Margaret McConnaughy, Beaver Falls.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Evelyn, Martha, and Ruth Thompson, and Anna DeChico, and six brothers, Harold, Ralph, Glenn, Elmer, Charles, and William W. Thompson.

Calling hours: Friday (2-18-11) from 4 to 7 p.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.

Services: A Funeral service will be held on Saturday (2-19-11) at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chris Wright interim pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating.

Merton Richard Thousand of 379 Meek St. Sharon, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 8:15 p.m. at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, PA. He was 43.

Mr. Thousand was born in Rochester, NY on July 16, 1966, a son of the late Merton and Carol page Thousand.

He was a graduate of Hilton High School in Rochester, NY.

Merton was a meet cutter all of his life. He was currently employed at D'Onofrio Food Center and previously worked at Wegman's Food Market.

Mr. Thousand enjoyed watching the Washington Redskin's and the New York Yankee's. He liked to play video games and hunting, but most of all he loved his son Noah. He was a great father, brother, and uncle. He had a heart of gold.

He is survived by, a son, Noah Hayden Thousand; 7 siblings, June Thousand of Rochester, NY, Laurie Thousand of Rochester, NY, Carol An Beehler of Kendall, NY, Penny Thousand Hakeem of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Sandra Ann Thousand of Transfer, PA, Charles Thousand of Transfer, PA, and Zachary Thousand of Sharon, PA; He is also survived by his companion, Sarah Evans; 2 step-daughters, Serena and Kristina Kustelega; and his dog, Blue; He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thousand was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Thousand; a brother, Steven Thousand.

To respect Merton's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, 60 Shenango St. Greenville, PA 16125 with Rev. David Cox.
