Rosina Lombardi, 890 Saunders Ave., Sharon, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, March 16, 2015, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. She was 79. Mrs. Lombardi was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Statigliano, Caserta, Italy, a daughter of Giuseppe and Erminia Conti Russo. She was educated in Italy and soon after immigrated to the United States. She was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. A homemaker, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking, but her greatest joy was found while spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband Ferdinando "Fred" Lombardi, whom she married Sept. 7, 1958, passed away Jan. 27, 2010. She leaves: three daughters, Maria E. Dowling and her husband Kevin, Gibsonia area of Pittsburgh; Gina P. Warren and her husband Alan, Hermitage; and Palma F. Russ and her husband Brian, Hubbard; and a son, Joseph A. Lombardi, Sharpsville; 11 grandchildren, Tiffany M. Crist; Nichole S. Hallas and her husband Steve; Joseph F. and Falina Lombardi; Carla M. Thrasher and her husband Chris; Philip M. Dowling; Erin M., Eric M., and Evan T. Warren; and Rachael E. and Angelina N. Russ; and six great-grandchildren, Darian C. Hoag; Lydia N. and Danica R. Hallas; Aria R. Lombardi; Noah C. Povanda; and Ryleigh M. Thrasher. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday (3-19-15) and 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday (3-20-15) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Friday (3-20-15) in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, with Rev. Henry C. Andrae, pastor, as celebrant. A procession will leave the funeral home for the church at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
