Obituary

A funeral service will be Tuesday for Rose K. Novak of Masury, who passed away at 5:20 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, in her home. She was 100. Mrs. Novak was born Feb. 6, 1915, in Dixonville, Pa., a daughter of Basil and Julia Smilo Kulczycki. She was a graduate of Indiana (PA) High School and moved to the area in the mi-1930s. Rose was very proud to have been an overhead crane operator during World War II at the former Carnegie Steel, Farrell. She later worked as a bookkeeper for the former Rust Dairy, Brookfield. She was an active member of St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Sharon, where she was Sunday school teacher and made the dough for piroghi sales. She was also a member of the church's Sisterhood. Rose enjoyed traveling and family events. Her husband, John Novak, whom she married Jan. 26, 1946, passed away in April 12, 1984. Surviving are many loving nieces and nephews and their families. Besides her husband and parents, Rose was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Hladio and Anne Worona; two brothers, Julian and Joseph Kulczycki; and a greatniece, Michelle Worona. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (3-23-15) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
