Rose M. Lombardi of 1158 Charles St., Sharon, passed away peacefully at 12:45 p.m. Thursday (11-5-15) in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage, with family at her side. She was 78. Mrs. Lombardi was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Newark, N.J., a daughter of Michael and Stella Gorski Klaich. She attended Farrell schools. Mrs. Lombardi was a longtime employee at the former Kroger's grocery store, Hermitage. A familiar face at Kroger's, you would often hear her friends shout "Hey Rosie" as they were happy to see her working in the deli department when they came to shop. She later worked for several years at Hills department store, also in Hermitage, where she retired as a sales associate. A homemaker, she was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, Farrell, and belonged to the church Bethany Club. She also participated in the annual church fish fry and assisted in making both cavatelli and Easter bread as church fundraisers. Rose volunteered countless hours at Our Lady of Fatima School and was a wonderful cook and baker who enjoyed cooking for the priests at the church and many others through the years. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary at American Legion Post 432, Wheatland. Her husband, Joseph V. Lombardi, whom she married May 18, 1957, survives at home. She is also survived by: her daughter, Debra Andrusky and her husband Martin, Hermitage; two sons, Joseph Lombardi and his wife Janet, Indiana, Pa.; and Vincent A. Lombardi and his wife Colleen, Eighty Four, Pa.; five grandchildren, Daniel Andrusky; Dominic, Alyssa and Dante Lombardi; and Vincent Lombardi; and a brother, Peter Klaich, Vaughn, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Louis Klaich. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church organ fund, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday (11-8-15) where a rosary will be recited at 7:45 with the parish altar rosary society and the cavatelli workers in J. Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday (11- 9-15) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant. A brief prayer service will take place in the funeral home at 10 a.m. prior to leaving for the church. Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
