Rose Marie Hoffman, 258 W. Park St., Hermitage, passed away at 6:43 p.m. Thursday (1-27-11) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System, after an extended illness. She was 78.
Mrs. Hoffman was born May 28, 1932 in Loretto, PA a daughter of Leroy Michael and Esther L. McConnell Stock.
She was a graduate of Cambria (PA) High School and moved to the area in 1954. Earlier in her life she was employed by RCA and the Dairy Dell in Evansburg, PA.
A homemaker, she was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon; and Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, where she was a daily communicant. Rose was an extremely spiritual woman who lived a faith filled life. She devoted her time to prayer and helped many people with her encouraging words and strong faith in God. Rose enjoyed traveling to religious sites and spending time with her granddaughters, whom she adored. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court # 507, Sharon; and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 6404, Sharpsville.
Her husband, Charles S. Hoffman, whom she married Feb. 2, 1954, passed away May 20, 1995.
Surviving are: two daughters, Lee Ann Marcotte and her husband David, S. Lyon, Michigan; and Tina M. Lackey, Hermitage; a son, Charles L.W. Hoffman, Sharon; five granddaughters, Dr. Amy G. Marcotte and her husband Dr. David Dewar; Esther E.R. Lackey; Karen A. Marcotte; Rowena Elmer Lackey; and Madison I.M. Lackey; a grandson, Merlin C.D. Lackey; three great grandchildren, Nimue Rose Lackey, Destanee Lackey and Bean Dewar; and a sister, Mary Ann Stiles and her husband Harry, Streetsboro, Ohio.
Besides her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her step-father, George L. Coleman; a sister, Leona M. Stock; a brother, Germaine J. Stock; two half sisters, Luella Kovash and Doris Hurd; and three half brothers, Alfred , Leonard and Peter Coleman.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121.
Calling hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Sunday (1-30-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon, where a rosary will be recited at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday (1-31-11) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.
