Obituary
Rose Marie Buchanon, formerly of Armand Ave., Hermitage, passed away peacefully under hospice care at
6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in New Jersey.
She was 90.
Mrs. Buchanon was born September 13, 1925, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Pasquale and Mary Galloni Rosa.
She was a 1943 alumna of Sharpsville High School and graduated from Slippery Rock State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
She retired from the former Notre Dame Parochial Grade School, Hermitage, where she was an elementary school teacher from 1970 to 1985.
Rose was a longtime member of the Church of Notre Dame.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, competitive bridge and bowling.
Her husband, Elmer J. Buchanon, whom she married October 17, 1946, passed away July 10, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, David E. Buchanon and his wife Pamela, Basking Ridge, NJ; and Anthony "Tony" Buchanon and his wife Monica, Denver, CO; six grandchildren, Jennifer Buchanon Onderko and her husband Timothy, Hamden, CT; Kimberly Buchanon Ball and her husband Austin, New York, NY; Courtney Buchanon, also New York, NY; Sean Buchanon, Connor Buchanon and Ashlin Buchanon, all Denver, CO; a great-granddaughter, Amra Onderko, Hamden, CT; and nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Buchanon was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph, who died in infancy; two sisters, Anna Petuch and Josephine McMath; and a brother, Sam Rosa.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hour will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 , in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. Jeffery Noble, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
