Rosario A. Trunzo, 960 Hazen Rd., Sharpsville, passed away at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday (10-21-09) in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio, following a brief illness. He was 82.
Mr. Trunzo was born June 12, 1927 in Farrell, PA a son of the late Joseph and Frances Marinelli Trunzo.
He moved to Italy as an infant where he was educated and returned to the United States in 1947.
He then served with the US Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Trunzo retired in 1989 from Sharon Steel Corporation's former Farrell plant where he was employed for 46 years.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville. He was also a member of the N. Sharon Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Italian Home, Farrell. 'Rosy', as he was known by many, was an extremely hard worker. He undertook many home improvements over the years and would often lend his handyman expertise to family and friends. In addition to his home projects, he also enjoyed gardening. His greatest source of enjoyment, however, was sharing time with his family, particularly his beautiful grandchildren whom he cherished.
Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Patricia Scalese, whom he married January 27, 1954 in St. Francis Di Paola Church, Paola, Italy; a daughter, Jessica Brzezinski and her husband Ted, Sterling Ht's., Michigan; two sons, Joseph R. Trunzo, Erie, PA; and Patrick T. Trunzo and his wife Patricia, Peters Township (Washington County), PA; five grandchildren, Andrew, Julia, Nicholas and Luke Trunzo; and Jacob Brzezinski.
Besides his parents, Rosy was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Mary Trunzo; a son, R. Gene Trunzo; two sisters; and an infant brother.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
