Rosario "Sidy" Surano, Jr., 65, of Hermitage passed away Thursday afternoon, July 4, 2024, in UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie.
Sidy was born February 22, 1959, in Erie, a son of Rosario "Sidy" Surano, Sr. and Joanna (Wolfe) Surano, and graduated from Greenville High School in 1977.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was stationed overseas in Naples, Italy, during his tour of duty.
Sidy worked at Werner Ladder, Greenville, for more than 20 years and later worked as a security guard for several years.
He was a former longtime member of the Italian Home Club in Greenville.
An avid golfer, Sidy achieved a Hole-In-One on April 05, 2009, at Shenango Lake Golf Club, Transfer, PA. He also played slow pitch softball for many years on a number of different teams. Sidy loved Cleveland sports, especially the Browns and Guardians, and always looked forward to driving his 1978 Corvette.
Sidy was a kind, outgoing, and funny man with a smile that could light up any room or quickly brighten a person's day.
His wife of 29 years, the former Corinne "Cori" Frabotta, whom he married April 14, 1995, survives at their home in Hermitage.
Sidy is also survived by his mother, Joanna Surano, Greenville; three brothers, John Surano, Hadley, PA, James Surano, Greenville, and Robert Surano, Zion, IL; a sister, Rosanna Black (Mike), Greenville; one niece, Casey Surano; and five nephews, Anthony, Dominic, and Christopher Surano, and Michael, Jr. and Nikolaus Black.
Sidy was preceded in death by his father, Rosario "Sidy" Surano, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to an animal advocacy center of the donor's choice.
A celebration of Sidy's life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday (7-9-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
Military honors will be conducted at 6 p.m., in the funeral home, by the Wheatland AL, West Middlesex and Farrell VFW Honor Guard.
