Obituary

Ronald B. Smith, of Greenville, formerly of Transfer, passed away Sunday evening, January 20, 2019, in Sharon Regional Medical Center. He was 66.

Mr. Smith was born October 24, 1952, in Greenville, a son of the late James S. and Mary (Smith) Smith. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1971 graduate of Reynolds High School.

Ron was employed by the Werner Ladder Company, Greenville, where he worked in various positions for more than 30 years. He later worked for the plant's new owner, Signature Aluminum, until retiring in 2011.

Ron attended Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church, Wheatland, and was a social member of Reynolds V.F.W. Post 7599.

He was a full time fisherman and also enjoyed gardening.

Ron is survived by his son, Nicholas Smith, Boardman, OH; his longtime companion, Jean Kitchen with whom he made his home, Greenville; three step-daughters, Kim (Rick) Gadola, Sharon, Tracy (Brian) Reiser, Masury, and Melissa Goda, Warrington, PA; two sisters, Clara Evelyn (Wendell) Craig, Louisiana, and Kathy J. (Edward) Shoults, Arizona; three brothers, Robert (Susan) Smith, Greenville, Dwaine (Bonnie) Smith, Transfer, and Michael (Patricia) Smith, Greenville; five step-grandchildren; and his former spouse, Kathy Montgomery, Greenville.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Drakovic; and two brothers, Charles and Darryl Smith.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church, 75 Mercer Ave, Wheatland, PA 16161.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday (1-23-19) in Wheatland-Farrell U.M.C., with Rev. Mark Goswick, pastor, officiating. A celebration of life gathering will be held immediately following the service at the Reynolds V.F.W., 115 Edgewood Dr., Greenville, PA 16125.
