Obituary

Ronald Edward Kahl, 81, of Sharpsville, passed away Monday evening, August 12, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

Mr. Kahl was born on March 5, 1943, in Sharon, a son of the late Edward and Dorothy Mae (Bole) Kahl. He was a 1961 graduate of Sharon High School and honorably served his country in the US Navy. While serving he was stationed in Guantanamo Bay "Gitmo" during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Ron began his career as a truck driver for McLean Trucking, West Middlesex. Upon the closure of the company, he studied cadcam drawing at Thiel College, in Greenville and was employed by Astro Shapes, Struthers, OH. Throughout his life, he continued taking several certification courses and continuing education classes. Ron eventually retired from Wheatland (PA) Tube Co., where he was a longtime employee.

He was a 50-year member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Shenango Valley Lodge #810.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed white water rafting, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was proud to be a Lifetime Hunting License holder with the PA Game Commission and forever cherished his fishing trips to Canada.

Ancestry and family genealogy were highly intriguing to him and he spent several years doing his own research. Recently, Ron made a trip Ireland, visiting many sites that were integral in his families past.

Above all, family was most important to him. He was an avid fan of his grandchildren, supporting them in all of their activities.

He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Steines (Michael), Sharpsville, and Holly Kahl, Sharon; two sons, Ronald J. Kahl, Sharpsville, and Adam Kahl (Heather), Hubbard, OH; six grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Bruno, CA, and Carol Ser, FL; and a brother, Robert Kahl (Cindy), Sharpsville.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Shenango Valley Lodge F&AM #810, 9 South Neshannock Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

All services are private.
