Obituary

Ronald D. Cole, Hermitage, and formerly of Warren, Pennsylvania, passed away of natural causes at 10:08 p.m. Sunday (12-6-15) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 67.

Ronald was born September 2, 1948 in Rochester, Pennsylvania (Beaver County), the son of Richard D. and Hazel I. Neal Cole.

Ronald was raised in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School in 1966; he enlisted in the U S Navy later that year. A Chief Petty Officer Retired, and Master Machinist, Ronald spent a majority of his 22 years in the Navy stationed on the West Coast with West Pac. His untarnished service record was acknowledged and rewarded with the following Medals and Citations; National Defense Medal, Battle Efficiency Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal 5th award. He also retired from Ellwood National Forge Company, Irvine, Pa.

He worked for a period of time at the New Castle School of Trades where he trained future machinist.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Warren County.Ronald was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.

He was a car enthusiast from an early age and enjoyed building race cars and turning wrenches. He crafted unique one of a kind hunting knifes and was generally handy and capable of fixing and building anything.

His wife the former Nora Meacham Steingrabe whom he married November 13, 2004, survives at home.

Also surviving are his mother Hazel I. Cole, Devon Gables,  Tucson, AZ , his son, James R. Cole and his wife Jocelyn, Flowery Branch, Ga, his 2 step children, Samuel Benton Steingrabe and his wife Katrina, Jaime Lynn Hassell and her husband Benjamin, his 5 grandchildren, Keith A. Jamie Lin, Stephanie, Victoria,  and Natalie Cole, his 7 step grandchildren, Louis, Veronica, and Tiffani Torres, Samuel J. and Henry Steingrabe, and Derrick P. and Zoey A. Hassell, his sister, Carolyn I. Lovelace, Hermitage, and Ray E. Cole, Mesa, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his father Richard D. Cole and a nephew Keith A. Lovelace.

Calling hours: 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday (12-10-15) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.

Services: Full military honors will be rendered at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (12-10-15) in the funeral home chapel. Military Honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex; and American Legion Post 432, Wheatland.
