Obituary

Ronald R. Brown of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away following an extended illness at 5:50 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System with his companion, Pat, by his side. He was 57. Ron was born March 15, 1958 in Pittsburgh, a son of Richard and Josephine (Colismo) Brown. He was a 1977 graduate of Penn Hills High School and received his diploma from Machine Shop Technologies Institute, Pittsburgh. He was employed as a machinist for Xaloy, Inc., New Castle, PA, for nearly 25 years. He attended St. Joseph Church, Sharon. Ron was a "Jack of all trades" and always willing to lend a hand or share his talents to whoever wanted to learn, especially his step-sons. He was a lifelong diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan and also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins. Ron absolutely loved spending quality time with his family. He looked forward to the picnics, pig roasts and parties that he and Pat hosted in their back yard. Ron enjoyed fishing, particularly in the ocean with his step-son, Jeff, and countless trips on his Harley Davidson soaking up the many beautiful sites throughout the country with his companion, Pat. Along with many great friends, he also enjoyed camping at Tionesta Lake. Ron is and always will be a hero to many for his courageous, never giving up attitude in fighting his illness. He went to his God with dignity and grace. He had such a big heart and sense of humor. Although he will be sadly missed by many, particularly Pat, he will never be forgotten. Surviving are: his companion of 15 years, Patricia "Pat" Grodecki Dolan, at the residence; a sister, Maria Fraser and her husband John, Natrona Heights, PA; two brothers, Richard Brown and his companion Heather, Penn Hills, PA; and Robert Brown and his wife Beth, Plum Boro, PA; nieces and nephews, Dana, Bobby, Brianne, Tia and Tara; two step-sons, James Dolan and his wife Jennifer, North Canton, Ohio; and Jeffrey Dolan and his wife Hillary, Wake Forest, NC; four step grandchildren who always put a smile on Ron's face, Hannah, Madeline, James and Evin; and his companions mother, Dolores Connors, Hermitage. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and his companion's father, Joseph Grodecki, Sr. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Ron's memory to the Acts for Autism Foundation of Pittsburgh, 7604 Charleston Ave., Swissvale, PA 15218.
