Rocco Arena, formerly of Indiana Avenue, Farrell, passed away at 10 p.m.Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, in Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare, New Wilmington. He was 90. Mr. Arena was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Gioiosa Ionica, Reggio Calabria, Italy, a son of Salvatore and Maria Giuditta Sainato Arena. He immigrated to the United States in 1952. Mr. Arena owned and operated Villa Arena Restaurant with his wife and children until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, Farrell. Rocco loved gardening, spending time with family and visiting his homeland. He is survived by: his wife, the former Rosanna Eros Ziccio, whom he married Dec. 26, 1954. Also surviving are: a son, Arthur J. Arena and his wife Michele, New Castle; a daughter, Judith A. Bauer and her husband Thomas, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; three grandchildren, Kevin Lewis and his wife Monica, and Nicholas and Carolyn Bauer; and two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Autumn Lewis. Rocco was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vincent "Jimmy" Arena and Dominic Arena.
