Robert K. "Kenny" Torrence of Sharon passed away at
7:17p.m.
Monday, May 15, 2017, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 79.
Mr. Torrence was born March 20, 1938, in Greenville, the son of Robert G. Torrence and Doris (Jackson) Torrence and attended Penn High School, Greenville. He served in the Army National Guard for five years and transferred to active duty with the US Air Force.
Kenny was employed for 12 years at National Castings, Sharon; and retired in 2000 after 26 years on the Sharon Police Department. He completed training in Narcotics Investigation at Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, OH, and was part of the original Narcotics Investigation squad in Mercer County. He was the co-owner of Treasure Chest with his wife, Marlene Torrence in Sharon. Following retirement he worked security for Westminster College and Sharon Regional Health System.
Kenny was a member of Rose of Sharon Lodge 3, Fraternal Order of Police; and a former member of HOG (Harley Owners Group). He was affectionately known as "The Snow Cone Man" serving children in the Shenango Valley in the 70's. Kenny enjoyed riding motorcycles, collecting cars, reading the newspaper with coffee, spending time with his grandchildren and taking his children camping, especially in Canada.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Marlene Martin, whom he married on June 13, 1964, in Farrell; three daughters, Kimberley Johnson, GA; Marla and Staci Torrence, both of NC; three sons, Kelvin Torrence and his wife April, Hermitage; Darryl Torrence and his wife Karen, Sharon; and Mark Torrence and his wife Chiemi, WA; two brothers, Ronald Torrence, NY; and David Torrence, Hermitage; fourteen grandchildren, Monique, Kevin, Justin, Ondrea, Natasha, Tobias, Jordan, Kayla, Camille, Olivia, Cynthia, Lydia, Brandyn and Temarah; four great grandchildren, Laurel Grea, K'Dence, Alphonzo and Logan; and a dear aun, Ruth Pulliam and her husband Joseph, Farrell.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Torrence.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to CORE, 204 Sigma Dr. RIDC Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
