Memorial service will be Saturday for Robert J. Spohn of Transfer, who passed away at 5:40 a.m. Sunday (6-16-13) in his residence. He was 77. Mr. Spohn was born Nov. 5, 1935, in Erie, a son of James R. and Anna Mae O'Hara Spohn. He was a 1952 graduate of Brookfield High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. Robert retired in 1996 as a truck driver for Niles Expanded Metals where he was employed for nine years. He also drove bus for Anderson Coach and Travel and the former Bortner Bus, was a deputy sheriff for Mercer County and was a member of South Pymatuning Township Police Department. Mr. Spohn attended First Baptist Church, Sharpsville. Robert loved life, he enjoyed visiting with people and had a wonderful sense of humor, and most importantly he loved to be surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by: his wife, A. Marlene Williamson Spohn, whom he married Sept. 7, 1984; four daughters, Beverly Thorndell and her husband Charles of Houston; Betty Ann Nickles and her husband John of Greenville; and Sharon L. Ferry and Cheryl L. Moyer, both Hermitage; a son, Phillip Spohn, Rhode Island; a stepdaughter, Marcy Vestal of Greenville; two stepsons, Scott Dickson and his wife Shelly of Cranberry Township; and Ken Dickson and his wife Ann of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, Phillip M. O'Hara, Southington, Ohio; and James Gribble of Tab, Va.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; and a step great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by seven sisters, his twin, Elizabeth Horne, and Dorothy Gentile, Imogene Rice, Delores Rice, Joanne Waters, Jean Linnonis and Celia Loupe; a brother, Edward Spohn; two grandchildren, Steven Creswell and Justin Ferry.
