Robert H. Roumfort was welcomed home to the arms of The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, following significant illness. He was 86. Robert was born November 6, 1928, in Gloversville, NY. He was one of six children born to Richard H. Roumfort and Gertrude E. Sontag Roumfort. He moved to Hermitage in the early 1960s coming from Erie, PA. An accomplished artist, Bob expressed that God held a brush in his hand which He tempered and shaped to His satisfaction. Then taking the vivid colors of a rainbow, He mixed and blended them for the brush to partake of. Imagination and inspiration were added for the brush to acquire and use in a very original manner. Bob would say, "I am the brush, God is the artist." He was an active member of Notre Dame Church, Hermitage, where he was a charter member of the church catering group. In addition, Mr. Roumfort was one of the original members of the Kennedy Christian High School's Parent Boosters Organization. A veteran of the United States Army, Robert served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on May 15, 1956. He was a member of the Hickory VFW post 6166, Hermitage. He was married to Theresa V. Szymanowski on June 16, 1956. She passed away May 19, 1991. He is survived by a son, Jeffrey M. Roumfort, Houston, TX, and three brothers: Roger and Ronald Roumfort of Erie, PA, Richard Roumfort, of Youngstown, OH, and one sister, June Hammond, of Clearwater, FL. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David A. Roumfort, who passed away September 19, 1995, as well as his sister, Ruth Seidl. Jeffrey is forever grateful for many people, such as Kathy and Paul Bauer of West Middlesex, who have been lifelong friends that provided consistent support to Bob. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Cremation has taken place. Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, with Msgr. Edward J. Zeitler, senior associate as the celebrant. Internment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage with full military honors provided by the Hickory VFW Honor Guard.
