Robert J. Noir of Hermitage passed away at
1:25 p.m.
Tuesday, April 19, 2016, in Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer, after an extended illness.
He was 81.
Mr. Noir was born August 22, 1934, in East Orange, NJ, a son of Robert A. and Sarah Flynn Noir.
He was a 1953 graduate of Barringer High School, Newark, NJ, and served with the Army during the Korean War.
Bob was employed by the Arch Diocese of Newark, NJ for ten years before moving to the area in 1966.
He then worked at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 15 years;
ITT Reznor Corp., Mercer,
for seven years; and retired from Flynn Tires, Mercer.
Bob was an active member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage; and a former active member of St. Michael's Church, Greenville, where he served as an usher.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Joseph J. Fitzmartin Council # 1446, Greenville; and a former member of Notre Dame School Board; and the Kennedy Boosters, both Hermitage.
Bob enjoyed bowling and was an umpire at the little league, high school and college levels.
He was proud of his Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland on numerous occasions.
Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Nancy L. Lamont, whom he married June 22, 1963; three daughters, Debbie Locke, Raleigh, NC; Ellen Hott and her husband Ken, Mooresville, NC; and Katie Taylor and her husband Brad, Reno, NV; two sons, Martin Noir, West Middlesex; and Matt Noir and his fiancé Sandrine Borrelli, Wexford, PA; and 10 grandchildren, John, Sarah and Thomas Locke; Megan and Lauren Hott; Adam, Zane and Max Taylor; and Robert and Ryan Noir.
He also leaves two sisters, Ann Anderson and her husband Herb, Myrtle Beach, SC; and Sally Haas, Midlothian, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
