Robert C. Nagel, 990 Hall Ave., Sharon, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 7:55 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 68.
Mr. Nagel was born February 18, 1944 in Clarks Mills a son of the late Ira and Frances McCauley Nagel.
He attended Commodore Perry High School, Hadley, where he was a standout wrestler and was raised on a dairy farm.
Although he no longer lived in the rural area, his love of farming never waned throughout the years. Bob was employed in the tax office at the Mercer County Courthouse for the past fifteen years. He was an ordained Evangelist and, along with his wife, founded Servant's Heart Ministries in Sharon. He was also active at the Salvation Army, Sharon, where he was a Sunday school teacher and was involved in many community outreach programs. Bob spent his life helping others and preaching salvation. He was a member of the North Sharon Volunteer Fire Department and periodically served as its chaplain. An outdoorsman, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed caring for his rooster and dogs. His family was a great source of pride and enjoyment and he cherished the time he shared with his children and grandchildren. His sudden departure from this life will leave an immeasurable void; however, knowing he is with the Lord brings much comfort.
Surviving are: his wife of 22 years, the former Marta A. Nelson, whom he married March 4, 1989; a daughter, Alexandra A. Rock and her husband Joseph; a son, Daniel W.I. Nagel and his wife Patricia; and two grandchildren, Nevaeh Nagel and William King, all Sharon. Among others, he also leaves a brother, Paul Karlen and his wife Doris in the Jamestown, PA area; and his mother-in-law, Lyda Nelson, West Middlesex.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army Corp., 660 Fisher Hill St., Sharon, PA 16146.
