Kroko

Robert J Kroko, 90, of Sharon, passed away Friday afternoon, December 23, 2022, in Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Kroko was born August 12, 1932, in Masury, OH, a son of the late John and Mary (Harboski) Kroko. He was a graduate of Brookfield High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. While in the military, he was a Machinist Mate First Class and completed one world tour.
Upon his honorable discharge, Bob continued his employment at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. after 21 years and multiple job classifications he left Westinghouse for the position of Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for Sharon School District where he worked for 19 years until his retirement.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.
In his retirement, he volunteered at many of the local golf courses as a Field Marshal for local outings and tournaments. He was even fortunate enough to be a volunteer field Marshal for a couple of Senior PGA Tournaments in Georgia. As a long-standing member of the North Sharon Volunteer Fire Department, you could find him in the center of the card game at many of the monthly meetings.
He bowled in the Westinghouse league as a young man and continued bowling with some of the same men well into his retired life. When he wasn't in his woodshop making something for someone in the family or tinkering with his designed Parking Meter Lamps he spent a lot of time fishing and golfing. Above all, he cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Betty Giroski; four sons, Richard (Deborah) Kroko, Marietta, GA, Daniel (Toni) Kroko, Hollidaysburg, PA, Kenneth (Leigh Ann) Kroko, Fredericksburg, VA, and Robert G. Kroko, Sharon; five grandchildren, Nicole (Clay) Stravinskus, Ryan (Stephanie) Kroko, Zach (Katie) Kroko, Jacob (Anna) Kroko, and Nicholas Kroko; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Zlatkoff, Niles, OH.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Chestnut; and a brother, Tom Kroko.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to Buhl Park Golf Course (Dum Dum), 1290 Forker Blvd., Sharon, PA 16146.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (01/07/2022) in St. Joseph's Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
