Robert F. Kimmel, 97, of Hermitage, formerly a longtime resident of Sipesville, PA, passed away peacefully with family at his side early Sunday evening, October 4, 2026, in Avalon Springs, Mercer.

Mr. Kimmel was born on September 17, 1929, in Somerset, PA, a son of the late Harry and Elsie (Maust) Kimmel.

On July 13, 1947, he married Gloria A. (Showalter) Kimmel in Sipesville, PA, where they remained and raised their family until moving to Hermitage, PA, in1971. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2018.

Prior to retirement, Bob was a driver for Cooper and Jarrett Trucking and Hertz Penske for more than 40 years, logging over 3 million miles accident-free.

Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sharon.

He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of the Somerset Lodge 358, a member of the Somerset County Shrine Club - Jaffa Shrine, and recently received his 60-year-pin from the New Castle Scottish-Rite Consistory.

Bob is survived by four children, Robert Kimmel, Jr. (Virginia), of Mt. Sidney, VA, Connie Sanders (Randy), Summerfield, FL, David Kimmel (Tina), Hermitage, PA, and Brenda Rewis (William) Ellenton, FL; a sister, Jean Ann Whipkey, Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren, Vickie Sly, Lisa Zuber, Scott Kimmel, Sherry Golden, Elizabeth Oakes, Nichole Hamelly, Kyle Kimmel, Faith Whalen, and Jake Rewis; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers; a granddaughter, Marsha Flowers; and a great-granddaughter, Posey Foy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Shriners Children’s Hospital - Erie, 1645 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16505.

Calling hour will be 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday (10-10-26) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.

Funeral service will immediately follow at noon, in the funeral home, with Pastor Harley Williams, officiating.

Interment: Sipesville Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Sipesville, PA.
