Service will be Saturday for Robert Alan Kapsa, who passed away at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage. He was 72. Mr. Kapsa was born July 27, 1942, in Sharon, a son of Stephen and Ann Gaydos Kapsa. He grew up in the Myers Hill section of Patagonia and was a 1960 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, where he was a standout football player. He attended Youngstown State University and was a draftsman in the engineering department of the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. until its closing in 1984. He was also employed by Glowe Smith Industrial, Vienna, Ohio; J.C. Penney; Wal-Mart; and the former Valley View Department Store, Brookfield. A lifelong area resident, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and bird watching. He was an exceptional golfer and was active in local baseball and softball leagues throughout the region. Bob was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, Local 126, and the Croatian American Civic Club, Farrell. Surviving are: a son, Robert A. Kapsa Jr. and his wife, Sandi, San Diego, Calif., and their children, Amanda, Erica and Samantha; a son-in law, David Shuttleworth, Sharpsville, and his children, Darci, Erin and Lorigan; two stepdaughters, Merilee Siege and her husband, Tim, South Pymatuning Township; and Pamela Giroski and her husband, John, West Middlesex; a sister, Marilyn Solich, Miamisburg, Ohio; a brother, Richard Kapsa, Wilmington, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Wendy Shuttleworth, who died in 1999.
