Robert B. "Bob" Kahl, 77, of Burghill, OH, passed away from Lewy Body Dementia, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in Andover (OH) Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Kahl was born on December 5, 1946, in Sharon, a son of the late George F. and Leonilda (Zappa) Kahl. He attended the former St. Joseph's Parochial Grade School and was a 1965 graduate of Farrell High School. Shortly after graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy and served until 1969. He was stationed in Morocco and aboard the USS William V Pratt (DLG-13) as an electronic technician seaman.
Upon his honorable discharge, Bob worked as a cable splicing technician for Bell Telephone of PA from 1970 until his retirement from Verizon in 2007. Since retiring he enjoyed monthly breakfast with fellow retirees.
Bob was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Sharpsville, and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the church choir for 41 years.
He was also a member of the Hartford Optimist Association and a past president of the Joseph Badger Soccer Organization.
He enjoyed gardening, cutting the grass, wood carving and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the former Penny Gira, whom he married on September 4, 1971; three daughters, Jennifer Beachy (Paul), Amy McDowell (Eric), and Katharine Klinger (Stephen); eight grandchildren, Tristan and Peyton Beachy; Erica, Eric, Elijah and Ethan McDowell, and Margaret and Olivia Klinger. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Kathy Kahl, Kathy Sigall (Ed), and Wendy Gira; three nephews, Jeff and Greg Kahl, and Spencer Sigall; two nieces, Laura Kahl and Whitney Sigall; and many friends and extended family.
His family would like to thank the staff at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville; Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland, OH; and Patriot Home Care. A very special thank you to the staff at Andover Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation for the excellent care and kindness shown to Bob these last several months.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to either Andover Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, 486 S. Main St., Andover, OH 44003; or St. Bartholomew Church, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, PA 16150.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday (11/02/2024) in St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, with Rev. Frank Dicristina, as celebrant. Military honors will follow.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
