Robert E. Dout of Hermitage passed away peacefully at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville, after a lengthy illness.
He was 75.
Mr. Dout was born August 3, 1940, in Sharon, a son of Lee Wallace and Dorothea M. Stewart Dout.
He was a 1957 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years as a firefighter in N. Dakota, Morocco and Spain.
Bob retired in the early 2000's from Donald Lark and Sons Excavating, West Middlesex, where he was a heavy equipment operator for more than thirty years.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local # 66.
Bob was a former member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage.
He was a charter member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge 810, Hermitage, and a member of the Shriners, Erie.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, watching NASCAR and his pets, particularly Delilah.
Bob will be remembered by many for his willingness to help others in their time of need.
Surviving are: his wife of 46 years, the former Artie Jean Snyder, whom he married October 11, 1969; two brothers, James Dout and his wife Marilyn, Hemet, Calif.; and John "Jack" Dout and his wife Judy, Sharpsville; a sister-in-law, Sherry Dout, Hermitage; three nieces, Diane Devine and her husband John and their children, Emma, Andrew and Levi, Volant, PA; Deanne Dout, Sharpsville; and Ashley Davis and her husband Brock and their son Carson, Hermitage; a nephew, Garrett Dout, Hermitage.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Claire and Thomas Dout; a sister-in-law, Christine Dout; and his mother- and father-in-law, Eileen and Art Snyder.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8
