Robert W. Craig, 76, of 88 Mitchell Road, passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 26, 2011, following an extended illness.
Bob was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Youngstown, the son of Lawrence and Lula Lydic Craig.
He attended South High School, in Youngstown.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War, serving on the U.S.S. Iowa.
He retired in 1984 after 20 years of service with the City of Youngstown Water Department, where he was heavy equipment operator.
He was a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the VFW and the Maennerchor Club, all in Youngstown. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and NASCAR and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Bob particularly loved camping with his family.
His wife, Karen M. Dougan, whom he married Dec. 18, 1991, survives at home. He is also survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Hosack and her husband, Jeffrey of Greenville; three sons, Stephen Craig and his wife, Patrice of South Weymouth, Mass., Robert Craig and his wife, Stephanie of Mansfield, Mass., and Richard M. Craig and his wife, Kathleen of Greenville; one step-daughter, Pamela S. McConnell and her husband, Jeffrey of Big Run, Pa.; two stepsons, Russell 'Rusty' S. Wilson and his wife, Shelia of New Galilee, Pa., and Larry A. Wilson and his wife, Heidi of Shenango Twp.; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Janet Shea; three sisters, Joyce Stone, Betty Adams and Faye Boda; and two brothers, Kenneth and Eugene Craig.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 or a charity of the donors choice.
