Robert N. Cearfoss, 78, of Edinburg,PA passed away peacefully at 4:20 a.m. Friday, November 04, 2016 in the Beaver Valley Health and Rehab Center, Beaver Falls.

Mr. Cearfoss was born April 18, 1938, in New Castle, a son of the late John E. and Elizabeth Mae Cearfoss. He was a 1956 graduate of New Castle High School where he excelled as a member of the Cross-Country team.

Robert worked in the trucking industry for over 50 years before retiring from S&B Trucking, Hubbard, OH, as sales representative and dispatcher.

He was a member of St. James the Apostle Church, Pulaski, where he was a member of its Men Group.

Robert served as a board member of Mohawk School District for ten years, and for many years was a Republican Committeemen of Lawrence County. He was an avid sports fan, and loved to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates games on television.

His wife, the former Frances Elizabeth Sallmen, whom he married May 19, 1960, preceded him in death on May 4, 2006.

Surviving are: two daughters, Sharon K. Eckman and her husband Doug, New Castle; and Barbara A. Cearfoss, Edinburg; two sisters, Betty Lou Meyers and her husband Joe, Butler; and Darlene Cribbs, Sharpsville; a brother, Jack Cearfoss; and a half-brother, Arnold Irwin and his wife Debbie, all New Castle. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. James the Apostle Church, Pulaski, with Rev. Michael Peck as the celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Pulaski.
